Philosophy of Christian Education
As a Christian Academy we provide academic and spiritual instruction. Our Lord
instructs us, "This book of the Law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou
shall meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according
to all that is written therein: For then thou shalt have good success." -- Joshua 1:8
We believe students need to learn to work independently, be responsible, exercise
self-control and treat others with respect and dignity. The staff encourages, supports
and disciplines students to excel academically and spiritually. We expect our parents to
support us in these endeavors.
Mission Statement
The mission of Christian Life Academy is to provide educational and spiritual
instruction to Christian families.
History
C.L.A. was founded as a ministry of Christian Life Fellowship in June of 1978
after six months of prayer, study, and research into the area of Christian Education.
This came about when Pastor Carl Conley related to the board of directors of C.L.F.
the vision of member Barbara Wehmeier to have a ministry in the church that would
minister to children on a daily basis. Affirming that this vision was from the Lord,
Pastor Conley and the board set upon inquiring of the Lord what would be the best
avenue to fulfill this vision. The board sought input from parents, educators, and
from other pastors who had schools, daycare, and other children's ministries as part
of their church structure.
Christian Life Fellowship, formerly First Assembly of God, has been serving the city
of Santa Fe, New Mexico since 1941, and has always endeavored to minister to the three
cultures that are representative of our city, Native American, Hispanic, and Anglo.
It was founded on the premise of instructing people in the ways of God. C.L.A. is a
natural extension of this vision.
While researching how best to fulfill this vision, Pastor Conley and the board of
directors set forth the guiding principles of how C.L.A. would function. They are
as follows:
- This academy will provide spiritual and educational instruction to the
children of Christian families.
- We are here first and foremost to exalt the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and
see that our students are given every opportunity to accept Him as their personal
Lord and Savior.
- Keeping the cost of tuition and other fees as low as possible so as not to
make this educational opportunity out of financial reach for the members of the
congregation.
- Provide a well-rounded quality program, which covers not only the academic
and spiritual aspects, but also provides social, athletic, musical, artistic and
ministerial outreach opportunities for the students.
We researched curriculum and decided upon the Accelerated Christian Education,
(A.C.E.) approach, as this choice was the best fit not only with what we wanted
to accomplish with the above guidelines, but it worked well with our facilities,
as classroom space was at a premium. The Christian worldview and Biblical
principles espoused throughout the curriculum were what we were looking for in
teaching the core subjects and electives. It was also well received by parents
who were looking for Education with a Christian worldview for their children.
Initially serving the families of C.L.F., the Academy was located in the church
sanctuary and required weekly set up and breakdown of equipment. As the church
began to grow, the interest in the ministry of the school expanded. This led us to
look for another facility, and it was decided that selling our property and building
a new church/school complex was the best route to pursue. This was accomplished in
September of 1982, when we moved to our present location.
For the past 28 years the academy has experienced a steady growth in students who
are a representation of families from our church and various local congregations
within our surrounding area. Due to this growth in facilities and numbers we have
been able to provide an expanding quality of this program to our students.
We are now seeking accreditation after several years of consideration and discussion
among the church board and staff. This will not only affirm our accomplishments in
educating future Christian leaders, but also will be a testimony to new students and
families to whom we offer a quality academic and spiritual environment.
This year we have 107 students in grades K through 12. We are also entering
in the final stages of the building expansion program that will include more classrooms, gymnasium, and
new dining facilities. Some of the blessings and strengths of the school are the
longevity of the staff, and their calling and commitment to this ministry. Reflecting
on the past allows us to envision a bright future for Christian Life Academy.

Dress Code
Self-discipline results in self respect which is characterized by modesty and
good taste in personal grooming. The training of students in Godly character
will begin with the dress code. Student's dress will affect the entire atmosphere
of the school. Academic achievement, student attitude, and behavior are also
affected by the dress code. Therefore, it is the philosophy of Christian Life
Academy that students should acquire, not only an understanding of subject matter,
but also a realization that becoming educated for adult life means developing
acceptable standards of deportment, dress, and grooming. Clothing appropriate
for school wear should be clean, modest, and neat in appearance. Modesty is the key.
