Good Morning Friends,

Many of you asked for the summary points to my message “Strengthening a Weakened Family.”  You can also order the message at the tape table in the lobby.

I used as a background to this message the situation with the prophet Eli and his two sons from 1 Samuel.

Point One: Four signs that the prophet's family had deteriorated.

A. The head of the family was too busy and ignored his family.

B. The head of the family refused to address his son's behavior.

C. The head of the family failed to head the warning signs.

D. The head of the family rationalized their wrong.

Point Two: The Six Top Consistent Qualities of Strong Families

A. Commitment to the family.
B. Spending time together.
C. They communicate well.
D. They are appreciative of one another.
E. They have a strong spiritual commitment
F. They have learned to work through crisis.

Point Three: Four Guiding Principles to Strengthening the Home from Deuteronomy 6:4-15

A. (vs. 4) Hear the truth continually.
B. (vs. 5,6) Love the Lord fervently.
C. (vs. 7-9) Teach the young diligently.
D. (vs. 10-15) Fear (be in awe of) the Lord greatly.

Proverbs 24:3-4 “Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established, by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.”

Closing Question: What is in your house?  What are you going to do about it?

WAYS TO MAKE YOUR MOM FEEL SPECIAL by Charlotte Adelsperger

Condensed from “Focus on the Family Clubhouse.”

1. Create a song to honor your mom.
2. Leave little thank-you notes in unusual places.
3. Ask your mom to tell you about experiences she had when she was a little girl.
4. Hug your mom and tell her, “I love you.”
5. Offer to help Mom around the house in addition to your “job list.”
6. Pray for your mom often.
7. Make a bookmark and put it in a book she is reading.
8. Say “I love you” each day to your mother.
9. Cut out magazine pictures of activities you mom likes to do and make a poster collage.
10. Make a banner with a slogan telling her about a special talent you appreciate, such as “My Mom's a Champion Pie Baker.”
11. When you pray as a family, thank God for your mother and ask Him to bless her in special ways.
12. Make a greeting card with a personal message.  Write three things you love about your mom.
13. Talk with Mom about happy experiences you've shared.
